Professional Services

Workforce software for boutique professional services firms.

Accounting, law, consulting, marketing agencies, engineering firms. Track billable vs non-billable hours, manage PTO across busy season, and onboard staff and contractors without spreadsheets.

What firm leaders are tired of

Time tracking lives in 3 tools. One for billable hours, one for PTO, one for payroll. They don't talk to each other.
Busy season PTO is a knife fight. Nobody has a single calendar of who's actually out.
Onboarding a new analyst takes a week. Most of it is sending PDFs over email.
Contractor 1099s aren't tracked the same as W-2 staff. CPA calls you in January with questions.
Partner / senior / junior splits don't show up cleanly on labor reports.
Document storage is "the shared drive nobody can find anything in".

Built around how professional services firms actually run

The features that matter for accounting, law, consulting and agencies — not generic shift scheduling.

Billable vs non-billable time

Tag time entries as billable, admin, business-dev or training. Reports break out utilization by employee, team and project.

📅

PTO + busy season blackouts

Set blackout date ranges (tax season, fiscal year-end, deal close week) where PTO requires owner approval. Auto-rejected during locked windows.

👤

W-2 + 1099 in one workflow

Contract analysts, fractional CFOs, freelance designers — all onboarded cleanly with W-9 instead of W-4. Year-end 1099-NEC totals broken out automatically.

📂

Document vault

Offer letters, NDAs, conflict-of-interest disclosures, signed handbook acknowledgments. Each doc tied to the employee profile. Audit-trail on every access.

💼

Partner / senior / junior roles

Position types as a first-class concept. Labor reports show utilization and cost by tier — so you know if your junior bench is full and your senior bench is empty.

📤

Clean payroll exports

QuickBooks Online, Gusto, ADP, Paychex pay-period CSVs. Salaried partners flagged separately from hourly staff. Your bookkeeper stops chasing time cards.

Professional services FAQ

The questions we get from accounting firms, law offices, consultancies and agencies.

We bill clients hourly. Does this integrate with our project/billing tool?
PeopleBridge is the workforce / HR side — schedule, time clock, PTO, payroll. For client billing we recommend keeping your existing tool (QuickBooks Time, Harvest, Toggl, FreshBooks) and using PeopleBridge time entries to reconcile internal hours. CSV exports of time entries are included on every plan.
Can I tag time as billable vs non-billable?
Yes. Each clock-in or manual entry can be tagged with a project / matter / engagement code and a billable flag. Utilization reports show billable %, billable hours and non-billable breakdown by employee and team.
We have salaried partners and hourly staff. Does it handle both?
Yes. Each profile has an employment type (salaried, hourly, contractor) and the labor reports split them out. Salaried staff don't need to clock in for pay purposes but can still track time for utilization reporting.
How do you handle 1099 contractors?
Worker classification is a first-class field. 1099 onboarding captures W-9 instead of W-4 / I-9. Year-end reports give you a clean 1099-NEC total per contractor without manual math.
Can I block PTO during busy season?
Yes. Set blackout date ranges where PTO requests are either auto-rejected or routed for owner approval only. Common pattern: tax season Feb 1 – Apr 15 for accounting, deal-close weeks for M&A, end-of-quarter for SaaS sales.
We're 8 people in a single office. Is this overkill?
No. There's one plan with everything included — time tracking, PTO, payroll exports, document storage and direct messaging are never gated. An 8-person single office is just $1 per active employee/mo + $10 per location/mo, so about $18/mo, and your first month is free. Add a second office whenever you want; it's simply another $10/mo location.
