What they were running before

Before PeopleBridge, Paciugo ran the standard small-franchise stack: Homebase for scheduling and time clock, Toast for the register, paper packets for onboarding new hires, and group texts for everything in between. It worked, in the sense that nothing was on fire — but four real problems compounded every month:

  • Tip pooling was a manual reconciliation. Tips reported on Toast, hours tracked in Homebase, redistribution in a spreadsheet. Pennies didn't reconcile. Servers asked questions nobody could answer fast.
  • Multi-location scheduling lived in separate worlds. Each store's schedule was its own Homebase tab. A staff member float-covering between Frisco South and Watters Creek was scheduled twice, paid wrong, or forgotten.
  • Onboarding W-4 / I-9 was paper. Three weeks from "you're hired" to "you're in payroll." Two of every five packets had a missing field.
  • Homebase pricing climbed past three locations. Homebase Plus is roughly $30/location/month; adding their HR add-on stacks on top. PeopleBridge is one plan: $1 per active employee/month plus $10 per location/month, with every feature — including Toast integration and all AI — included. No tiers, nothing locked behind an upgrade.

Six weeks after switching

Paciugo went live on PeopleBridge on April 22, 2026. The migration took a week — bulk CSV employee import, Toast OAuth, geofence radii set per store, the first week's schedule rebuilt. Six weeks in, the numbers tell a clean story:

  • 32 active employees across 3 locations, with 48 total onboarded digitally since go-live. W-4, I-9, direct deposit, and consent forms all signed in-app. No paper.
  • 7,574 hours clocked across 1,377 entries. GPS geofences set per store; 125 entries are GPS-verified at clock-in.
  • 1,446 shifts published through the drag-and-drop schedule builder. Only 1 trade request in the entire window — schedules are landing right the first time.
  • 67 time-off requests handled in-app with partial-day support and automatic schedule blocking. Zero requests sitting in a notebook.
  • 75,023 Toast orders backfilled and reconciled (3 locations, January 2025 forward). The weekly tip pool calculator runs on live Toast data — $ 87,572 in tips ingested across the window, redistributed pro-rata by hours clocked.

The features that actually moved the needle

🍦

Toast tip pool calculator

Tips pulled from Toast, hours pulled from time-clock, distributed pro-rata per location per pay period. Owner phantom hours configurable. Lock & Pay snapshot freezes the math; payroll CSV exports in one click.

📍

GPS clock-in with auto-routing

Float staff covering multiple stores get auto-routed to the closest geofence at clock-in. Manager override always available. No more "I punched in at the wrong location" payroll fixups.

📅

Per-location schedule with overtime predictor

Pre-publish warning when an employee is on track to cross 40 hours that week — fix it before the schedule goes out, not after payroll runs. Drag-and-drop builder lives on mobile too.

📜

Digital onboarding (W-4, I-9, direct deposit)

New hire signs everything on their phone before day one. Manager reviews the packet from any browser. Three-week paper chase compressed to a same-week turnaround.

📊

Sales Reports with CPA-ready month tabs

Owner-only access. By Day, By Location, By Hour (America/Chicago), By Month (CPA-friendly). CSV export. Net / Gross / Tax / Tips / Discounts all in cents — no float drift.

📣

Per-location announcements + messaging

One tap from the home screen opens an announcement composer pre-filled with the right location. In-app DMs replaced group texts for compliance-sensitive coordination.

Why this case study is honest

I'm the franchisee of all three Paciugo locations and I built PeopleBridge. We were on Homebase. I wrote the first version of this tool because I was tired of paying Homebase $90+/month for software that still left me reconciling tip pools in Excel on Sunday nights.

Six weeks after switching, my own payroll Sunday is gone. The schedule lands right the first time. Onboarding a new server takes 20 minutes instead of three weeks. The tip pool reconciles to the penny against Toast every Monday morning — automatically. The numbers on this page are pulled live from the production database. They're not a marketing fiction.
